Earlier this month, we attended the Daily Bread’s Ultimate Food Challenge — a culinary competition that supports the charity’s Food Services Training Program! Hosted by Maureen Holloway and Fred Kennedy, food lovers, taste leaders and do-gooders were entertained while the Chefs prepared scrumptious dishes using ingredients that can be found in a food bank hamper box. Guests were given a ballot to vote for their favourite dish of the night!
In true food battle form, the Chefs were given 30 minutes to whip up a signature dish for judges and guests to taste. The winner of the challenge was Donna Dooher of Mildred’s Temple Kitchen! Donna’s Moroccan Veggie Tagine was also the Fan Favourite of the night. It was DELICIOUS!
Chefs and Challenge Dishes:
Chef Donna Dooher, Executive Chef & Owner of Mildred’s Temple Kitchen
- Moroccan Veggie Tagine -
Chef Daniel Messolo, Executive Chef @ Gusto 101
- Tuna Pasta -
Chef Saverio Macri, Executive Chef @ Cibo Wine Bar
- Tartare of Hot Dog, Fresh Pickled Vegetable Salad and Tonnato Sauce -
We also loved watching the judges take photos of their food as most food lovers do!
Michael Bonacini (Chef and Partner of restaurant company Oliver and Bonacini)
Massimo Capra (Chef and Co-owner of Mistura and Sopra Upper Lounge)
Emily Richards (Home Economist, Chef and Author)
