Loving the 2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel | #ChevyDrive

During my most recent Fall vacation, the friendly folks at Chevrolet Canada hooked me up with a week-long test drive of their new 2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel. The lady friend and I were planning on taking a trip up to Ottawa (from Toronto) to visit the fam-jam so this gave us a perfect opportunity to try out a new set of wheels.

Quite honestly, I was really excited to try out the Cruze Diesel. I’ve had my eye on a few of the diesel engine sedans on the market and have pondered the thought of switching over. Let’s just say, my 2010 Subaru Impreza isn’t the greatest on gas mileage so I’d totally welcome the few extra $’s I’d save from switching to a fuel efficient diesel. :)

I rack up a good heap of mileage on my car every year – 130k KM and counting! So comfort, control and fuel efficiency are essentials to get me through our long distance weekend drives and mind-numbing Toronto traffic.

We picked up the car at my local Chevy dealership and quickly noticed the power leather seats, slick dashboard and plethora of fancy buttons – fully loaded, hurrah! I took a moment and enjoyed the start-up as I listened to the ‘cat purr’ come from the diesel engine… My dad had an old diesel Mercedes when I was growing up and it brought back some fond memories.

After loading up the trunk we were off for a relaxing week of family get togethers, sight seeing and leafy fall hikes in our nations capital.

Top 3 things I loved about the 2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel

1) Diesel fuel saves me heaps of $$$’s

To put it into perspective, a typical trip from Toronto to Ottawa in my Impreza burns through 3/4 of a tank of gas where in the Chevy Cruze I made it in less than 1/2 a tank. We made sure to stop and buy extra Tim Hortons on our way as a testament to our new found fortune.

2) Bells and Whistles

Our Cruze Diesel came with a fancy multitude of extras that we enjoyed during our trip. I was particularly fond of the built-in GPS, back-up camera, bluetooth link, sunroof and indicators that would light-up when someone was in my blindspot. This car felt SAFE and checked off the ‘comfortable’ criteria on my list with flying colours.

3) Peppy and maneuverable

The last thing I want in a car is a sluggish start up and stiff steering. The Cruze had none of these drawbacks which made it feel more playful.

Overall Impression

We were super satisfied with the Chevy Cruze Diesel and also sad to part with it after our week was up. Ever since, I’ve been seriously contemplating one of these as a second car purchase.

Special thanks to Chevrolet Canada for the hookup!
