Sound Meets Fashion | Sennheiser MOMENTUM On-Ear Headphones

Trying to find the perfect headphones to suit your lifestyle is like trying to find the perfect pair of jeans – nearly impossible. I’ve been on the market for new headphones for a while but everything always seemed too bulky, uncomfortable or limited in colour.

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Headphones - Lime Green

Recently, I received these Sennheiser MOMENTUM On-Ear headphones to review and at first glance, I was already sold. The material, made of Alacantra, was soft and had a suede like texture. Alacantra is also known for its durability and breathability. Aesthetically, the headphones look elegant, feel great and are quite portable. I also like that they’re lightweight but well made. There’s definitely nothing obnoxious about these headphones at all.

Four shades are available – green (shown), pink, navy blue and ivory. I was surprised to see that a black version wasn’t available but perhaps Sennheiser will release a winter colour line featuring bolder colours? Not that I’m complaining, I love the pistachio green colour. They match EVERYTHING in my closet.

Sound Quality

Okay, so we know they look good. How do they SOUND? As many of the writers at Dinosaurus Rex will attest to, whether you’re enjoying that favourite voice, guitar solo or bass drop – your headphones need to meet your needs.

The MOMENTUM On-Ear’s focus on clarity. You’ll get great mids with a slight bass emphasis – stellar for vocal dance tracks (my fav!). For the style-conscious, these headphones are fun, enjoyable and well balanced.

My verdict? I love them. They’re functional, exciting and most importantly, they’re fashionable.

about time people realize there are better headphones out there than Beats.

My girlfriend has a labret piercing in her ear (tragus). How would these earphones sit? As they look good, and have seen good recommendations.

@Toby As I don’t have a labret myself it’s hard to say – but what’s great about these headphones is the ear cups are made out of suede which sit much more comfortably than your typical plastic or rubber cups.

I was looking for phneos that would pack plenty of punch without sacrificing any of the qualities of their full-grown, ostentatious siblings. Anyone who’s even moderately serious about headphneos knows that the smallest improvements come at a price. In the case of these phneos, the cost is easily justified. I’ve compared them with several portables in the $5-10 range along with some full-sized models weighing in at $50-100. Conclusion: these are worthy of being your front-line, and perhaps only, pair of phneos. They’re up to the task of distinguishing each of the instruments in a jazz rhythm section or reproducing the spacious quality of an entire string section. The treble is distinct and alive ; the bass is, if anything, more than I require (and the PX 200 s are supposedly the bass-heavy models). Comfort? They feel the same as any $2 pair of portable headphneos until the music begins, at which point wearability is not even an issue.Be forwarned that no 1/4 adapter is included. Apparently Sennheiser wants consumers to view these as strictly low-end phneos suitable only for connection to a portable CD player. Nonsense. My only real disappointment thus far is the awkwardness of folding and fitting the headphneos back into their hard case. If I can get this down to 60 seconds or under, I’ll probably revise my rating upward.
