Scotiabank Nuit Blanche 2013 | T.O Streets Come Alive with Art

The Arts make us richer. And for one night they breathe imagination into our entire city.”

As September comes to a close, it’s almost time for my favourite time of the year. No, it’s not Halloween but the 2013 Scotiabank Nuit Blanche — a night where the streets of Toronto truly come alive with art. This year’s lineup features 112 art projects that have been created by 500 local, national and international artists.

This year, a new installation called 1nspired Night will allow festival goers to walk though a moment in time and experience the festival in another way. Live video and photos taken from the public will be projected onto a 15m canopy of screens! Talk about cool, right?

Some festival highlights include three curated exhibitions:

Off to a Flying Start

Route: Toronto City Hall & Nathan Phillips Square Area

Theme: Ready made art found in galleries and museums return to the streets.

Route: University Avenue from Queen Street West to Charles Street West

Theme: The public becomes the procession in this archetypal unconventional parade.

Romancing the Anthropocene

Route: Yonge Street from King Street to John Street

Theme: Triumph of science and human achievements with a cautionary message about the destruction of natural habitat.

When: Saturday, October 5, 2013

Time: 6:51 PM until Sunrise

Where: Downtown Toronto (Check the Event Map)
