Deadmau5 to Give Keynote Interview at Canadian Music Week 2014

Canadian progressive-house superstar and Toronto native, deadmau5 (Joel Zimmerman), will provide a keynote interview at the upcoming Canadian Music Week 2014. I’m pretty excited for this. It’s great to see CMW grow larger and finally bring in a Canadian who has impactful reach/volume and appeals to a young and ever growing fan base. Not to say there was anything wrong with past guests and artists at the event – it’s just time to step up the game and show how big Canada’s footprint is in the arts & music scene.

During his interview, deadmau5 will be offering “a candid look into his success, the power of social media and technology, performing live, and his perspective on the future of EDM”. To be frank, I’m mostly interested in hearing his thoughts on the last point. EDM is getting insane amounts of attention which is amazing and has it’s drawbacks. I try not to preach too much on this site, but with all the heat EDM has faced recently, such as the unfortunate  Trajedy at Electric Zoo 2013, you have to think the mau5  has a unique POV on the whole future of the genre. The performer has been known to be brutally honest with his opinions – never afraid to stir up sometimes controversial discussions.

This is a great opportunity to hear it from one of the biggest pioneers in the industry – be sure to check it out.

When: Friday May 9, 2014

Where: Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre Hotel in Toronto

Open to all CMW delegates and registered showcasing artists. Limited tickets also available for purchase at
