An Te Liu Social MONO NO MA | A Night of Ceramics

Last Friday (Sept 6), I traded in my flats for some pretty high heels and attended the An Te Liu MONO NO MA opening party at the Gardiner Museum. The atmosphere was brewing with merriment as artists, enthusiasts and supporters admired Liu’s creations while sipping on some wine by Barefoot. There were even delicious small bites from à la carte kitchen! It was the perfect recipe for a relaxing yet enjoyable Friday night.

Liu’s exhibit was inspired by the Gardiner’s Ancient America’s collection. Using contemporary consumer items, he creates a collection that is both aware of form and non-form, which is also apparent in his title, MONO NO MA – “mono” meaning object and “ma” meaning gap.

I loved the creativity, balance and beauty of each sculpture in the gallery. If you have the chance, visit the Gardiner Museum and be inspired. The exhibit will be open until November 11, 2013.
