Splinter Cell: Blacklist Launch Party Recap | We Hung Out with Sam Fisher!

Splinter Cell: Blacklist Launch Party Recap | We Hung Out with Sam Fisher!

If I had to sum up last night’s event in one word, it would have to be ‘awesome’! A 7000 sq foot Toronto warehouse that normally houses vintage home décor pieces (Metropolis Living) was transformed into an undercover launch party on behalf of Sam Fisher and the Fourth Echelon. After three years of hard work, the wait is finally over. On August 20, 2013, fans of the Splinter Cell franchise will finally get to “do well by doing good – and shooting bad guys”. I, for one, have had Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist pre-ordered for weeks and will most definitely be hibernating with my Xbox for the next little while. See ya later world!

Anyway, let’s get back on track to what really matters here. As our pass into this top secret mission, we received special Splinter Cell: Blacklist dog tags that double as USB ports! There were several Xbox stations that allowed guests to play multiplayer and single player versions of the game alongside Ubisoft game testers, animators and other game creators.

While playing the game, keep an eye out for dogs and guys picking their noses. I tots’ got to talk to the animators that created those! It was pretty cool. Just saying. On another interesting note, this is the first game Ubisoft Toronto developed completely on its own.

I always thought it would be fun to be a game tester but unfortunately it’s not what I imagined it would be. After talking to an actual game tester, 70 hour weeks and Microsoft Excel don’t exactly scream fun to me so let’s all just enjoy the game in its post-creation state which by the way has received positive reviews from critics (including yours truly, ME!). IGN scored the game at an amazing 9.2.

Before I finish this mission recap, let me add one more thing, which was the highlight of my night – taking a picture with Sam Fisher… or at least some attractive man that’s supposed to be Sam Fisher. Well, a girl can dream, right?

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist will be available on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC. Gamers can buy the Ultimate Collector’s Edition and the Standard Edition with a Bonus Upper Echelon Pack from all major retailers. Pre-ordered games from select retailers will also include the Cover Hunter Pack, the Ultimate Espionage Pack, the Protect and Defend Pack, the Run and Gun Pack, and the Suppress and Assault Pack.
