2013 N9NE Gala | In Support of Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund

This one’s for the ladies!

In the world of comic books – Wonder Woman, Jean Grey (Phoenix) and Batwoman are all iconic female super heroes who have shown their strength in fighting against evil. Moving away from the land of science fiction, there are also many real women who have changed the world. Historically, Helen Keller, Rosa Parks and The Famous Five (amongst others) are all activists who have overcome a number of obstacles to fight for their causes. In more recent years, strong female icons are embodied in women like Mother Teresa, Hillary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.

Women at Work - We Can Do It

On June 19, 2013 the 3rd Annual N9NE Gala will host a glamorous evening in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund. Roula Panagiotopoulos founded N9NE, Night of the Nines, in 2011. The inspiration or muses behind N9NE are: love, life, talent, achievement, patience, wisdom, knowledge, harmony and inspiration – all of which are attributed to strong and empowered women.

In Canada, 1 in 9 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Approximately 23,000 Canadian women and 200 Canadian men were diagnosed in 2012. (Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation)

With your support, breast cancer patients who are facing financial crisis will be able to receive short-term financial assistance. In the wise words of Coco Chanel, all women deserve to be classy and fabulous. So come dressed to the 9s and join us for an evening of celebration! Your ticket will help raise money for the Canadian Cancer Support Fund. There will be a silent auction, delicious hors d’oeuvres, dancing and cocktails.

When: June 19th @ 7pm

Where: Stonegate Private Counsel – 15 York Street, Toronto

About the Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund (CBCSF) Charity

Donna Sheehan founded CBCSF in 2010. CBCSF is a brand new organization run by volunteer effort. After Donna was diagnosed with breast cancer herself, she changed her career path. She spent seven years working for non-profits that provided information and psychological support to breast cancer patients, their families, and caregivers. In her time with people, she recognized a trend. Their financial struggle was often so stressful that it overshadowed the diagnosis and difficult healing process. Though millions of dollars are raised yearly for breast cancer research and education by ‘pink’ campaigns. Although these campaigns are worthy, they do not address the niche that CBCSF does.

Green is the new pink™! CBCSF is committed to easing the burden of breast cancer patients with financial difficulties and assisting patients with expenses not covered by provincial or private insurance.
