Ice, Wine & Dine on Elm St | Winter Magic Festival

The winter festivities are starting early!

Last weekend, Karl and I popped by Elm St. to enjoy this year’s Ice, Wine & Dine Festival. The friendly folks at Downtown Yonge BIA invited us to check out the annual event’s attractions that celebrate the best of the holiday season.

I love this time of year. Snowboard weather is just around the corner and we finally get to start rocking our toques and scarves like real hipsters. It’s also the time when my three favourite food flavours are in season – apple cider, gingerbread and cocoa.

Some of Elm St’s signature restaurants partook in the night with a lineup of culinary stations that would suit anyone’s fancy. Short rib stew from Legendary Barberians Steakhouse, roasted chicken from ORO Restaurant, and risotto from Donatello Restaurant were among our favourites. Queen and Beaver Public House served some wicked complimentary hot mulled apple cider, and Delta Hotel had a fancy tasting pulled short rib. Oh, we also both devoured some deep fried mars bars from Duke of Somerset to suit our chocolate addictions (refer to our Chocolate Ball exploits).

Fire & tap dancing, ice sculpting, beat boxing and stilt walking filled the street. We made sure to hang out at the festival’s signature ice martini lounge for a good portion of the night. Lads and ladies, keep this day in mind for next year as it makes for a good date or family outing.

Thanks! Winterlude is awesome too. Haven’t been in a few years but not a bad idea to hit it up again :)
