Wiser’s Spiced Whisky Halloween Launch Party @ Parlour Lounge

Welcome to the Wiserhood!

Wiser’s Spiced Whisky had their Halloween themed launch party at Parlour Lounge last Wednesday and Dinosaurus Rex was there to “spice up” the action.

“That’s Spiced Up”

If you haven’t had a glass of  Wiser’s Spiced yet, you’re in for a ‘treat’ ( sorry i’m back to writing puns). Let me fill you in… Wiser’s is one of Canada’s top producers of high-quality Canadian whisky. Adding to their already award-winning portfolio is their release of Wiser’s Spiced ($27.95 at the LCBO). Well known for heritage and tradition that dates back more than 150 years, this is the first time the popular brand has bottled a spiced whisky – and man, I was excited to try it.

Wiser's spiced vanilla old fashioned

“Combining the uncompromising taste of Wiser’s with a hint of spice, Wiser’s Spiced introduces a whole new dimension to our growing whisky family”says Zoë Traynor, Senior Brand Manager at Corby Distilleries Ltd.

And try it we did. Chris even tagged along to give me a hand – we tasted their Halloween and standard cocktail recipes.

Our favorite drink of the night was the famed The Headless Horseman (created by Mixologist Gavin MacMillan).

I also enjoyed the Hot Toddy - probably because I spent most of my time on the back patio in the cold enjoying the haunted decorations and fire pit, complete with s’mores action.

I feel like I would be neglecting something if I didn’t re-iterate the Canadian roots that Wiser’s proudly shares. Established in 1857 in Prescott, Ont.,  the brand is among Canada’s oldest, continuously produced whiskies. Owned and operated by Corby Distilleries Limited – one out of every five bottles of Canadian whisky sold is purchased from the Wiser’s family. That’s pretty impressive… ZOMBIE!!!

I enjoyed the atmosphere the Wiser’s team created in Parlour Lounge. The funky Halloween decor got me excited for the season and the costume guessing game (where guests had to guess the literal meaning of 5 mystery costumes) was a nice touch. There was also some great bartending flair provided by Michael Montehermoso - where he put on a fiery spectacle.

Chris and I both picked up a bottle of Wiser’s Spiced after the night. Planning a Halloween bash? Be sure to try some of the drink recipes we sampled (found at the bottom of this article).
