Boston Pizza’s New Menu | Tasting

Boston Pizza’s New Menu | Tasting

Although ‘Boston’ may be in its name, this particular restaurant chain (originating from Alberta) is as Canadian as they come. I can’t recall how many countless hours we’ve spent at Boston Pizza catching the hockey game and mingling with friends. Whether you’re with sports buddies, school peers, family or even a casual date – BP is always a good option. Other than the casual atmosphere, what makes Boston Pizza (and their 340 Canadian stores) a go-to for Torontonians and Canadians in mind? The food of course!

Recently, Dinosaurus Rex was invited to sample the restaurant chain’s renewed menu featuring 26 mouth-watering new dishes. We were more than happy to dig our claws into this one.

Boston Pizza - New Menu

We and a select few gathered at the Boston Pizza on Front and John St. to meet BP Executive Chef, Michael Gray, and have him showcase his new creations.

We tried a total of eight items – delicious photos below!

Calamari

Boston Pizza - Calamari

Tender calamari and banana peppers lightly dusted and deep fried. Served with chili lime mayo for dipping.

Pizza Spring Rolls

Boston Pizza - Pizza Spring Rolls

Pizza spring rolls loaded with pepperoni, mushrooms, red and green peppers, pizza sauce and pizza mozzarella.

Mediterranean Pizza

Boston Pizza - Mediterranean Pizza

Mozzarella, fresh spinach, fire-roasted portobello mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and marinated artichoke hearts, topped with feta and finished with a pesto drizzle.

Pulled-Pork Pizza

Boston Pizza - Pulled Pork Pizza

Pulled pork tossed in whisky BBQ sauce, baked with pizza mozzarella and red onions, then finished with green onions and even more BBQ sauce.

Meatball Grinder

Boston Pizza - Meatball Grinder

A toasted garlic-brushed bun loaded with three hearty homestyle meatballs in a blend of tomato sauces, topped with balsamic-glazed red onions and roasted red peppers, smothered with pizza mozzarella.

Chipotle Chicken Club

Boston Pizza - Chipotle Chicken Club

Chargrilled chicken breast, crispy bacon, fresh tomatoes, lettuce and tangy chipotle Caesar sauce piled between two pieces of BP pizza bread.

The Panookie

Boston Pizza - The Panookie

A giant, freshly baked, pizza-pan chocolate chip cookie served with vanilla bean ice cream and drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauces.

S’mores Pizza

Boston Pizza - S'mores Pizza

Chocolate hazelnut spread, mini marshmallows, Hershey’s® smooth and creamy milk chocolate and crumbled graham crackers baked on BP’s original crust and drizzled with caramel and chocolate sauces. Served with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.

Overall, all the items offered a great refresh to a tried and tested menu. Without going totally off-brand, the new items provide new taste that is still unique to Boston Pizza. We loved the fact that these foods were all perfect finger foods – easily share-able with the pals.

“I have this weird obsession with pork lately. I actually came into this tasting hoping a pork/bacon item would be on the menu. To my delicious surprise, the Pulled-Pork Pizza made my night! Best part about this dish was the sauce. Pulled-pork sauce is ‘boss’ and should be put on everything. #nomnomnom” ~ Chris

“I really liked the Calamari, the food stayed crisp the entire night and the idea of battering the hot peppers alongside the Calamari was genius. Let me explain – when I was sharing this with Chris, I could make my food spicier by selecting the peppers along with my calamari while Chris could avoid the pepper if he wasn’t feeling the heat.” ~ Karl
